Juliette slept in her crib in her room! She's sooo incredibly independent already. Of course, I was a nervous mess the first night she wasn't sleeping in our bedroom. So nervous that I slept on the couch so I could be closer to her room if she needed me. Welp...she didn't need me! Here she is passed out for the night.
It's been a super busy week. Work is crazy with the Memorial Day Weekend coming up. Holidays kinda stink when you work at a beach club. Don't get me wrong...they're great for all of you people who get a three day weekend. But those of us that work holidays, it means one extra day of work. Ugh. I just need Josh to pick the right numbers when the Powerball gets back up to $400 million. Anyways, for all of you that need to keep up with the Jones'...here's what happened this week: Juliette slept in her crib in her room! She's sooo incredibly independent already. Of course, I was a nervous mess the first night she wasn't sleeping in our bedroom. So nervous that I slept on the couch so I could be closer to her room if she needed me. Welp...she didn't need me! Here she is passed out for the night. Juliette's oldest brother, Mugsy, looks like he has alopecia. He went back to the vet this week for the 4th week in a row (literally!). He has had every test in the book done on him. Skin has been scraped, medicated baths, thyroid tests...you name it. Darn dog is costing a fortune these days! We've narrowed it down to food allergies and/or a yeast infection (a yeast infection on his skin...creeeeeeepy). So he's been on meds for a good solid month now. And if you know Mugsy, you know he's not the easiest of dogs to work with. Pill time is no bueno. I also caved in this week and called Bark Busters. Bark Busters will be coming over to work with us on training the pups to be good and obedient. Wish us luck! We're going to need it. On a prettier note, my succulent potted garden looks great! I have now proven that I can keep succulents alive! (Basically, that means the dogs have not yet tried to eat them. Last year, the tomato plant didn't survive if you get my drift.)

It's hard to believe it's been almost a month since Juliette was born! She already seems so much bigger than when she was born. This week Juliette went with me to visit the Club (a.k.a. Jen's work). Of course she was the most beautiful baby they had ever seen. It's the truth...never seen a cuter baby if I do say so myself. We also got to Skype with Grams for the first time! I only have a little over a week left of maternity leave. I have been out of work for almost 9 weeks! Craziness! I wish I could take Juliette with me to work and hide her under my desk! At least we have the Juliette Cam to keep me entertained throughout the work day! Enjoy the pictures from this past week! (I made sure to get all family members in there!)
We have started to settle into a routine! I am now getting some sleep (AMEN!) and everyone is doing great! Josh and I are getting good at reading her cries..."I'm hungry" vs. "I'm tired" etc. All of our visitors have come and gone. It's back to normal. Except a new version of normal. The dogs are getting used to their new sister as well. Mugsy is always concerned when he hears her crying. Monty could care less about her unless she is being held by me. Then he goes into sad dog mode. I try to make sure to give them some time each day too.
This week Juliette went to the pediatrician for a checkup. She has gone from 5 lbs. 10 oz. (her discharge weight from the hospital) to 6 lbs. 7 oz. today. At our lactation appointment three days ago she was 6 lbs. 4 oz. Not too shabby for only 15 days worth of eating! About an ounce a day! She has also grown from 18 3/4 inches long to 20 inches long. She is eating like a little piggie. She consumes between 2-3 oz. at each feeding. Her next pediatrician appointment isn't until April. At that appointment, she gets immunizations. Daddy will have to take her to that appointment since Mommy will not be able to watch! Last week Juliette had her newborn photo shoot by Meghan who was also our wedding photographer last year. The pictures we have seen so far are soooooooo adorable. We should get them back in a week or so! I can't wait to put together her birth announcements! So far, so good! We are catching on to this parenting thing pretty well so far! Quite possibly the world's cutest dogs. I take that back. THE world's cutest dogs. Here they are. Mugsy, the Boston Terrorist (A.K.A. Boo Boo)Monty, the Needy French Bulldog (A.K.A. Bitty)How far along? 32 Weeks Maternity clothes? Yes. Starting to feel like ten pounds of s*** in a five pound bag. Stretch marks? None yet Sleep: Sleep is good...I just can't seem to get enough. Best moment this week: Rolling into 2013...the year our baby will be born!! it seemed so far away but now here we are! Miss Anything? Oh the things we take for granted! It has gotten really hard for me to bend over. If I drop something, I am getting really cleaver at using my feet to pick them up! Movement: Still lots of movement & baby hiccups.. I know I will miss this feeling so much. Food cravings: Anything from "The Floridian." Josh and I ate there on Christmas Eve. And it was amazing. Everything on their menu is so inventive and creative...and well, just amazing. I had tempeh for the first time and it was incredible. I honestly didn't really even know what I was ordering, but I thought I would give it a whirl. For those of you who have no idea what it is... From wikipedia.org..."Tempeh, is a traditional soy product originally from Indonesia. It is made by a natural culturing and controlled fermentation process that binds soybeans into a cake form, similar to a very firm vegetarian burger patty. It originated in today's Indonesia, and is especially popular on the island of Java, where it is a staple source of protein. Like tofu, tempeh is made from soybeans, but it is a whole soybean product with different nutritional characteristics and textural qualities. Tempeh's fermentation process and its retention of the whole bean give it a higher content of protein, dietary fiber, and vitamins. It has a firm texture and an earthy flavor which becomes more pronounced as it ages." Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really..but the Cornish hens I made for Christmas Dinner were hard for me to look at. Not sure if it's because I'm pregnant or what, but they just looked like little babies. I had a hard time cooking them. Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: No Symptoms: Heartburn and swelling in my calves/feet and hands. Sodium is the enemy. Belly Button in or out? Still in. Barely. Wedding rings on or off? Off :( Happy or Moody most of the time: HAPPY! Looking forward to: 2013 is right around the corner! I went to my first class the other night...Breastfeeding 101. Wowza! I am going to give it a go! We go to our Childbirth class soon too! D-Day is quickly approaching! We need to get the hospital bag packed! (I started packing Juliette's bag last night! I can't decide on what clothes to bring her!) Josh got me an awesome camera for Christmas! I have been reading up on how to take great pictures so the pictures on here should start to get MUCH better! I found a great blog that has some wonderful hints for not-so-professional-yet-wannabe-professional-photographers...Kevin & Amanda. Thanks Lovee! Some of my pics I've taken so far... How far along? 28 Weeks Maternity clothes? Yes Stretch marks? Not yet. Sleep: Sleeping o.k. My neck is so sore it hurts to move it at night making sleep a bit more difficult. Best moment this week: Going to the doctor and hearing her heartbeat. I always hold my breath until that moment when they "capture" it. Miss Anything? Being able to move around like normal. Everything seems a bit harder now to do now. Like getting off of the couch. I now roll off. Movement: Constantly! She is one little busy body! At nighttime, she seems to be having a party in there. She will kick my bladder to the point where I have to pee. Food cravings: Apple juice this week. It's so refreshing! Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope. Still eating like there's no tomorrow. Gender: Girl Labor Signs: No Symptoms: My neck and back constantly hurt. I have been using a heating pad and taking two Tylenol, but it doesn't seem to help much. I need a massage! Belly Button in or out? In Wedding rings on or off? On...getting tight though. Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy. I did have one small meltdown this week...sorry Lovee! Looking forward to: Being able to hold her! At our doctor's appointment this week, I got to actually feel her head (from the outside)! I haven't known exactly how she has been positioning herself inside of me, but the doctor directed me towards her head. So far, she is head down, butt up! I did have a beer this past week! It was non-alcoholic, but tasted pretty close to the real thing. Only 80 days (or so...) till I can enjoy that Magic Hat #9! I've been practicing my swaddling on Monty. So far so good! He liked it!
Juliette's circus posters came in! We framed them and mounted them on the wall behind her glider last night! Her room is really starting to come together! Above her changing table/dresser I found a cute shelf from Home Goods for only $10! Score! So far it has a cute little lion, a picture frame with Juliette's ultrasound pictures in it and a wooden "J" that was mine when I was little. I also moved a cross-stitched "J" that my mom made me when I was little into her room. It is so perfect...with the little girl sitting on the "J" to the little dog that looks like Monty! I am going to paint the frame white to go along with the others in her room. We are all getting SO excited to meet Juliette! Especially the dogs! Doesn't Mugsy just look thrilled! (I had to take a picture of him...he looked too cute!) By the way...it's election day! Josh and I voted this morning! Go America! |
Juliette's MommaThanks for stopping by! My name is Jen and I am the proud Momma of Juliette Margot! We are so blessed to have a healthy and happy baby girl. Check back often and watch as Juliette grows...you never know what great adventures are ahead of us! The Past...
